An async event occurs when an async operation completes or changes state. Async operations are operations that execute 'in the background' while your app is running, typically on another thread, and include network data transfers and network connections.
When an async event occurs, your program is notified by means of a method call to an event handler object you provided when the async operation was started. Such event handler objects must implement the correct interface method for the operation being performed. For example, when you start an async socket receive ReceiveAsync operation, you must provide an object with a method that implements the IOnReceiveComplete interface method. This is the method that will be called when the async receive completes.
In order for async events to occur, the global UpdateAsyncEvents function must be called at regular intervals - once per OnUpdate is generally enough. This is when your event handler methods will actually be called.
Internally, the UpdateAsyncEvents function simply calls the UpdateAsyncEvents interface method for each object contained in a global queue. You can add and remove your own objects to and from this queue with the AddAsyncEventSource and RemoveAsyncEventSource functions. Objects in this queue must implement the IAsyncEventSource interface.
Adds source to the global list of event sources to be processed by UpdateAsyncEvents.
Removes source from the global list of event sources to be processed by UpdateAsyncEvents.
Calls the UpdateAsyncEvents method for each event source contained in the global list of event sources.
You must call this function repeatedly (for example, at the start of OnUpdate) for the various OnComplete handlers to continue to execute.
